With over 3,000 active listings in the North York Moors National Park, Stay North Yorkshire approached Homewings for a partnership to design their properties in a space traditionally dominated by family cottages. With the area being a key destination for family holiday breaks, having a successful summer break period was important for any return on the investment for the landlord – and Homewings set out to achieve just that.
The first project was a traditional Victorian property, so the client really wanted to keep a nice contemporary and relaxed look while gently reminding us of the period features through use of traditional Victorian colour - mustard yellows, emerald greens and browns.
The kitchen was also quite strong, being monochrome with wooden floors, so we took that into account when considering the colours and style. We were able to soften the Victorian features and monochrome base with some natural textures and warm colours that compliment both the wood and balance out the strong elements within the house such as the kitchen and the decorative fireplaces.
- Design 1 : 2 bed apartment in Saltburn.
- Budget: £6,100 ex. VAT.
- Results: 4 bookings for August in the first 24 hours of launch, totalling over £1,500 in revenue.
The second property was a very compact space with dark brown carpets and a neutral paint already in place. For the design we followed this through with natural earthy and light neutral colours to compliment this base scheme while keeping it light and airy. As it is a coastal property, we also wanted to bring some of that in with use of light woods, soft wools, rattan and coastal style materials. Soft greys and deep earthy tones were used to soften and compliment the existing furnishings. Overall the aim was to transform this small flat with dark carpets into something bright and airy, but cosy and warm too - the perfect destination for a relaxing seaside retreat.
