As a DJ, Simon bought this bright East London home back in 2005 to be used as a home base when touring in Europe. But with an empty house and a packed schedule, he decided to reach out to Homewings to get his London pied-à-terre designed.
Though practicality was the name of the game for this renovated Victorian home, Simon wanted to keep the character intact by adding vintage radiators and keeping the original wood flooring. The floorboards in the sitting room add warmth to an eclectic mix of colours and elements.
Homes are personal, and the vibe of a space has to represent the client’s personality. In this case, designer Cornelia focussed on a laid back mid-century vibe full of character with warm and bright colours throughout to keep the décor relaxed yet cosy. “London weather being what it is, it’s important for it to feel cosy and inviting” added the designer.
A few brighter accents with side tables, rugs and pillows gave every room that relaxed bohemian vibe.
Cornelia wanted to bring the mid-century Mexican style of Simon’s LA home into the design, while also keeping it quintessentially East London. Mixing quirky bohemian and vintage accents was the perfect solution.
