We asked our designers about their top 3 interior trends for 2017. We spoke with Homewings designer Ana Perroni to find out the must do's for your home in 2017.

1. The Holy Trinity: Marble, Brass and Copper

Marble goes beautifully with soft metal colours, and Ana tells us brass and copper are the chosen ones this year. It’s a modern twist on a traditional use of marble and gold – a perfect match for elegant coffee tables or consoles. If you’re not at marble-slab-table-in-dining-room level, why not translate this trend to other materials? Give your light surfaces an ulta luxurious makeover with the use of copper and brass details. You can inject the trend into every room by making the most of brass and copper accents all around the house. Think: brass bar here, copper rimmed mirror there, perhaps a couple of metallic pots and pans, and voilà!

2. Deep Blues & Charcoal Greys, Offset by Soft Tones

Be bold. 2017 is the year we dive deep - way deep – into the dark side of the colour palette. Don’t be afraid to go dark, let your little reading corder hug you with a coat of Navy Blue paint, or create a warm atmosphere in your bedroom with a deep Charcoal or Taupe. These colours will make a room feel anchored, almost as though the space is hugging you. Contrast these colours with light, earthy tones that will complement each other. Think deep and dark walls with bright contrasting paintings, or charcoal greys with earthy beige accents. Cosy to a whole new level.

3. Geometric shapes and patterns

When you hear 'geometric', you think tiles. It's the way it's always been - but 2017 will propel geometric shapes and patters away from tiled kitchens and bathroom and into the rest of the home. What used to be a trend generally confined to flooring is now a bold and fun accessory on any surface. We’re thinking geometric throws and pillows which can liven up any room and give a playful feel. Alternatively, add a geometric print carpet to the mix with a fun contrasting print pouffe, or curtains to really push the eclectic feel.
